Argus stores no IP address. The collectors write only a count per series and per hour, and the charts display those counts. The data directory can therefore be read by every user of the server, and copying the images needs no special right.

## What the data files contain

Each line holds a count and an hourly slice, `<count> <YYYY-MM-DDTHH>`, in a file named after the series and the year. The count comes from source addresses read in the authentication logs, but the addresses themselves are never written to the files. No host name, no user name and no attempted password is kept either.

The charts show the same counts. A legend names the series, an axis names the hours or the days, and no address appears on the image.

## What this site stores

The pages of this site are static files. It sets no cookie and loads no resource from another domain. Its audience is measured by a self-hosted Matomo instance on `www.davalan.fr`: tracking is configured without cookies, IP addresses are anonymised and nothing is passed to a third party. A browser receives HTML, CSS, the fonts, the images and the measurement script.

The images of the charts are copied to your own computer by `argus-fetch`, not published here.

## What stays on the server

The collection reads the logs locally. Argus sends nothing from the server: `argus-fetch` opens the connection from the desk and pulls the images. A server that is not reachable keeps its files, and no copy is attempted a second time.

The data files and the settings are described in [docs/install.md](https://github.com/RonanDavalan/Argus/blob/main/docs/install.md); the copy step is on the [Desk](/desk/index.md) page.
